To date we have drilled over 3700 water wells throughout Colorado and over 1 million feet of boreholes for geothermal systems. Job Summary:
Reporting to, and working closely with the Drilling Manager, will lead the field crew in completing the water well/Geothermal drilling operations of each project. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively operate the rig and other technical equipment, in a fast-paced environment with little supervision and be able to work independently and with other crew members. In addition, the role requires the lifting of heavy objects and extensive physical tasks and can involve 8-12 hour work days on a job site, at times in remote locations and requiring out of town travel.
Duties / Responsibilities:
· Perform drilling operations at maximum efficiency. This should include getting equipment to the yard or the next site efficiently cutting down on Non-Productive Time.
· Ideal candidate fully understands water well installation procedures/permits and needs little to no guidance in this area.
· Either fully understands vertical geothermal loop installation procedures or is willing to step into that role. We can train the right candidate for geothermal install. Ideal candidate will already at least have some working knowledge of geo loop installation.
· Ideal candidate will have working knowledge using Mud Puppy mud cleaning systems, weighing mud and adding additives/water when needed. We will train the right candidate if needed.
· Knowledge of grouting geo loops a plus. We use Geo Loop grout machines.
· Operate machinery and equipment in proper manner by following company standard operating procedures and best practices.
· Perform job in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner, according to the project schedule.
· Follows instructions of Drilling Manager and/or Ownership.
· Maintain safe and orderly jobsite conditions; utilizes appropriate safety equipment at all times. Maintain equipment and supplies in an organized manner and good working condition.
· Work to project schedule and successfully complete operational tasks to meet / exceed timeline safely and with budget efficiently.
· Arrive at jobsite ready to perform work on time, informs Drilling Manager of scheduling conflicts and personal emergencies with as much advance notice as possible.
· Identify potential problems in the field and resolve them. Inform Drilling Manager of any potential delay, cost, or safety issues;
· Mentor and train junior personnel.
· Submit daily time cards/drilling reports accurately and on time;
· Immediately inform Drilling Manager of any jobsite injury and perform appropriate actions, according to law and company policy;
· Supports other crews/crew members as needed. We are not interested in drillers that expect hands to do all of the work.
· Responsible for acquiring authorization of expenses from Drilling Manager.
· Monitor performance of equipment and informs Drilling Manager of required maintenance. Foreseeing mechanical issues before they become a serious problem leading to unscheduled NPT.
· Share technical experience and field knowledge with Drilling Manager and improve technical operations where possible. Ideal candidate shows a willingness to always learn new things and help the company be better as well.
· Use issued equipment solely for company business and within company policy / procedures.
Qualifications:
· At least 4 years of drilling/rig operator experience, (rig hand experience will not qualify)
· Ability to safely operate field equipment and machinery.
· Valid Driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation and at least 21 years of age.
· Must pass background check.
· Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
· Knowledge of Colorado geological conditions a plus.
· Experience supervising, managing and mentoring junior personnel
· Welding knowledge a plus.
· Class B or A driver’s license ideal but will train/pay for the right candidate. CDL will be a condition of employment.
*** Candidate must be willing to relocate to Colorado Springs CO area. Our warehouse is in Simla CO and employees report there most days. Relocation package will be provided based on experience and qualifications. Will be based on experience and qualifications.
