The University Honors Program recruits and provides academic and programmatic support to a diverse group of high-achieving students. The programs enrich the educational experience of high-achieving students through innovative coursework and related academic activities, enrichment programs inside and outside of the classroom and a unique residential village.
Essential Job Duties
The University Honors and Scholars Program Coordinator provides program and project support to the staff, faculty, and students of the University Honors Program. The position also supports the NC State, The Division of Academic and Student Affairs and the University College in achieving goals and objectives.

This position will be responsible for the following:
Honors Forum:
With the UHP staff, design, deliver, and publicize the Honors Forum. The Honors Forum is a 0-credit hour course that enrolls 1500 students during the academic year. The Honors Forum provides enrichment activities that help students develop a broad worldview. It features musical and theatrical performances, addresses by public figures, and discussions of contemporary issues. It also features cultural events, field trips, and conversations with faculty and alumni. Students in the course have access to 300 co-curricular activities through the course each semester.
HON Seminars:
HON seminars are special interdisciplinary courses that are limited to 20 students. We offer 25 seminars each semester. The Program Coordinator will support the delivery of our HON seminars by working with faculty and the UHP Assistant Director as they implement co-curricular opportunities in their classes and by creating the HON seminar schedule each semester.
Advising:
Advise students about program requirements and assist them as they develop plans to complete the University Honors Program. Document and confirm student submissions as a part of the program requirements completion process. Serve as primary advisor to the student council.
Admissions and Recruitment:
Assist with the University Honors Program recruitment and selection process by representing the UHP at recruitment events, reviewing program applications, and supporting efforts to recruit, select, and support a cohort of diverse students.
Alumni Engagement:
Support the program’s alumni outreach effort by developing publications, communications, and surveys to connect with alumni. Plan and implement events to engage alumni in the program’s initiatives and activities.
Program Evaluation:
With UHP staff, support analysis of UHP programs and initiatives.
Other Responsibilities

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Post-baccalaureate credentials or Bachelor’s degree required and at least 2 years of relevant experience

- Excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective and collaborative team member
- Ability to take direction and work independently
- Demonstrated willingness to take initiative
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office and Google Suite products
- Ability to work at night and on weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred
- Prior work experience at the university level preferred
- Experience in working with high-achieving students desirable
