The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is seeking a Training Coordinator to develop, implement and track staff training programs at the Adult Correctional Facility (ACF).

Effective January 1, 2023, there will be a salary increase of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range.

Location and hours:
This position is located at the Hennepin County Adult Correctional Facility at 1145 Shenandoah Lane, Plymouth, MN 55447. The primary work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but may require occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate training needs. There is no public transportation to this location.

In this position, you will:

  • Design and deliver customized electronic and classroom-based training that are aligned with Hennepin County's strategic initiatives to support customer needs; evaluate training effectiveness and providing feedback to department leadership regarding training issues.
  • Collaborate with staff from the DOCCR's Train, Coach, and Practice division.
  • Coordinate the Field Training Officers (FTO) program including interviewing, selecting, and training ACF FTO's; hold regular training meetings; provide feedback, encouragement, and skill development opportunities.
  • Prepare training reports, documents, surveys, and questionnaires.
  • Maintain and manage content on the DOCCR training website including preparing, proofreading, editing, and posting training policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the Learning Management System including entering classes and completions, maintaining the electronic evaluation system and tracking outcomes, preparing and sending completion certificates, and maintaining records and reports for training activities and program effectiveness.
  • Manage and coordinate the institution's Safety and Security programs and related activities, including collaborating with the Hennepin County Environmental Health and Safety Specialist.
  • Coordinate Hennepin County driver's permits for ACF staff required to drive a county vehicle and ensuring all appropriate training is completed.
  • Coordinate and assist federal, state, county, and city inspectors with inspections and tours of the facilities and grounds.
Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Six or more years of experience developing training materials and/or presenting trainings.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in criminal justice, behavioral science, education, business, public administration, or related field and two years or more of experience developing training materials and/or presenting trainings.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel between DOCCR locations.

Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • Working in a correctional facility residential treatment setting and/or working with offenders in a community setting.
    • Developing and presenting training materials.
    • Facilitating group discussions.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Correctional and/or residential facilities operations.
    • Behavior Management and Evidence Based Practices.
    • Current and relevant training practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently with minimal direction, prioritize work, handle multiple demands and competing priorities, and process documents efficiently.
    • Keep up to date on technical knowledge and expertise necessary to the job.
    • Interact with the general public and staff members with tact and discretion and provide excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
    • Work with customers or clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
