The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a dynamic, detail oriented and mission driven Human Resources Assistant to join our team in a temporary/seasonal capacity to help support a variety of HR-related projects. The HR Assistant will play a vital role in providing administrative support to assist our department in managing the YMCA’s employment eligibility (EE) verification process, monitoring email traffic to the department’s general inbox, and providing general HR support. The successful candidate must have excellent attention to detail, outstanding communication skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive information with tact and confidentiality. This position is temporary/seasonal and will last through December 31, 2022. This position is a hybrid opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembles and reviews current and archived new hire paperwork for completeness, including I-9 verification and CORI forms.- Follows up with new hires regarding incomplete or missing paperwork. Submits completed paperwork to recruitment team for final approval to ensure employee is cleared to work.
- Works with HR team to identify EE form incompletions, errors, and omissions and address accordingly.
- Scans and uploads all EE forms onto our department’s shared drive.
- Timely processing of ALL background checks (CORI, SORI, BRC) and updating of background tracker in a timely manner.
- Prompt response to all General HR inquiries.
- In partnership with the Manager HRIS, processes personnel related transactions and maintains accurate and up to date information in our HRIS system as appropriate.
- Administrative support as assigned/needed by HR staff.
Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.- Minimum of 2-3 years of administrative experience, preferably in a fast-paced human resources environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a creative and diverse group of people and as part of a team.
- Discretion with confidential information.
- Excellent organizational, customer service, and verbal and written communications skills.
- Knowledge of personnel practices, rules, and regulations highly desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with ADP a plus.
