Teacher's Assistant - Preschool Job at The Arc Westchester
The Children's School for Early Development is looking for a Teacher Assistant that will support the Special Education Teacher. You will assisting in developing and implementing classroom instruction for 6-10 young children with developmental delays and in the absence of the Special Education Teacher directs the classroom in a safe and appropriate manner.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment: using developmentally appropriate practice, providing child-driven and child guided learning opportunities for exploratory play.
- Advance physical and intellectual competence by providing opportunities for children to select activities in small groups with minimal adult supervision, being sensitive to non-verbal cues, such gestures, facial expression, and posture.
- Support social and emotional developmental and provide positive guidance giving children opportunities to master difficult tasks and encourage independence.
- Ensure a well-run, purposeful program responsive to participants needs by communicating effectively with team and supporting each discipline to effectively.
- Establish positive and productive relationships with families addressing individual priorities and sensitive to parent concerns.
- Maintain a commitment to professionalism promoting the Children's School philosophy an objectives.
