GENERAL FUNCTION
Responsible for accurate and timely performance of day-to-day accounting processes; assists Assistant Controller and Corporate Controller in all responsibilities and completes specific assignments in account analysis, research, reconciliation, and maintenance; applies appropriate accounting principles, practices and procedures to corporate and affiliate processes; exercises responsibility for one or more specific accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, etc.; and performs other specific assignments as deemed appropriate by management. The Staff Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller.
JOB SUMMARY
STAFF ACCOUNTANT performs the following functions under the direction of the Assistant Controller:

  • Assists in recording financial transactions in Company accounting records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and any manual journal entries after analysis of GL and reconciliations, etc.
  • Assists in month-end closing process by creating entries, reviewing and analyzing results, and reconciling account information.
  • Prepare analysis and findings from reconciliations and recommend corrective entries.
  • Performs periodic audits, reviews account activity and reports findings and recommendations to management.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual returns for non-income tax obligations (fuel taxes, sales taxes, etc.;
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of internal accounting controls.
  • Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by Assistant Controller, Corporate controller, CFO, along with corporate management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field;
  • 1-2 years related experience in accounting functions such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll & benefit accounting, account reconciliation, fixed asset accounting, etc. (Related professional certifications helpful, but not required);
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environment a huge plus;
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel and proficiency in MS Word;
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles;
  • Speak, write and understand English fluently;
  • Ability to analyze complex data and effectively communicate observations and conclusions;
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Duties require extensive use of computer keyboard and mouse;
  • Must be able to sit on one place for extended periods of time but may also require some limited movement around office location; (Office is two floors without elevator between.)
  • No heavy lifting required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
