Duties include supervising the assigned staff and operations for collection and disposal of refuse, recycling, and brush and bulky waste, assuring daily and reliable adherence to safety standards; providing and / or coordinating staff training; monitoring the work of crews during collection operations and performing regular safety audits; ensuring proper care of equipment, vehicles and tools; and conducting frequent meetings and informal huddles with subordinates. Other duties include maintaining records, preparing reports, making presentations, entering data into a database; operating vehicles and equipment over 26,000 G.V.W; providing information to the public; and investigating complaints. Duties may require some overtime hours in order to complete assignments. A high school diploma or equivalent, plus some related vocational training; and four years of increasingly responsible experience required. Must have a Class B Texas driver’s license with CDL endorsement. Municipal Solid Waste A licensure preferred.

EFFECTIVE 1/8/23: PAY GRADE SW09 / FULL PAY RANGE $34.14 - $44.94 PER HOUR

  • Individuals hired into this position will receive $1000 after their first 30 days of employment provided there are no documented attendance or disciplinary issues.
  • Employees that successfully complete their 6-month orientation period will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000 provided there are no documented attendance or disciplinary issues.
  • Employees that successfully complete one year of employment without
    documented attendance or disciplinary issues will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000.
  • The maximum amount of hiring incentive that an individual employee may receive is $3,000.
