Position Summary
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about creating the next generation of modeling and simulation tools.

The selected candidate will work full-time in one of the following locations: Suffolk, VA; Huntsville, AL; Springfield, VA; or Orlando, FL. We are also offering a hybrid work environment between office and remote. The person in this role will provide software engineering support to assist in the development of the Joint Training Tools (JTT) application suite. It will also act as a liaison to Army modeling and simulation stakeholders and assist in coordinating efforts between JTT and other Army simulation programs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a successful applicant to pioneer the simulation development of operationally relevant campaign planning and training. This role will require creativity and innovation to combine the discipline of Software Engineering with larger program objectives. In this role, the candidate must be able to conceptualize solutions and know how to apply new technologies to allow for rapid integration of pre-existing data, and enabling dynamic access and update of data within real-time events.

What You’ll Do

• Develop Army related software components within the JTT application suite and in accordance with design, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards.
  • develop software for use in a service-oriented architecture under an Agile development methodology
  • develop of web services and web interfaces especially with JavaScript frameworks and Java (i.e., ReactJS and Java Dropwizard)
• Integrate Army C4I system interfaces and stimulation requirements, using current protocols and standards
• Author or assists in the writing of system specification manuals, technical reports and user manuals.
• Collaborate with and across teams the planning, coordination, execution and documentation of system, software, and field testing
• Effectively communicate project status to include development, test and risk, to higher level leadership
• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or applicable engineering or science field
• 3-7 years’ experience developing software in C++, C, C#, Java, Python for actual programs/projects (not academic)
• Strong object-oriented programming skills and demonstrated knowledge of software engineering practices
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and debugging skills, including the ability to readily decompose complex problems into smaller, manageable tasks
• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously as well as with large and small teams of programmers
• US citizenship and an Active Secret clearance
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, except in limited circumstances where legally entitled to an accommodation.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with simulation, gaming, and interactive products/programs
• Experience developing in both Linux and Windows operating environments
• Security + certification
