We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scientist to join our growing Preclinical Team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, production, and testing of AAV vectors to deliver novel editing tools to cells of interest. This role will be based in Emeryville, California
About the Role
- Lead AAV engineering efforts to deliver new genome editing technologies to immortalized and primary mammalian cells
- Perform in vitro assays to assess viral packaging efficiency
- Perform cell-based assays to assess cargo delivery and efficacy
- Analyze complex data sets and recommend next steps
- Gather and analyze experimental data
- Present at external scientific meetings
- Prepare accurate and timely data summaries, contribute to the writing of reports, and present findings to key stakeholders
Desired Qualifications
- Ph.D. in biology or a related discipline and 1+ years hands-on industry or academic experience with AAV design, production, and optimization
- Experience working with immortalized and primary human cells
- Hands on experience with genome editing technologies in mammalian cells
- Experience with next generation sequencing technologies and digital droplet PCR (ddPCR)
- Excellent organizational skills and both oral and written communication skills
- Thrives in a collaborative and dynamic start-up environment
- Ability to think strategically, manage time and workflow, and work independently as well as in a results-oriented research team.
The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $115,000 - $130,000 depending on the exact level of the role. As this role is open to candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, the exact salary will be dependent on the specific level of the position.
