School Reading Assistant - PT(12hr.) - Reynoldsburg City Schools Job at Columbus Metropolitan Library
SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday 10:00am - 1:00pm
PURPOSE OF JOB
The School Reading Assistant provides one-on-one reading support to K-3 students at targeted Franklin County School Districts. School Reading Assistants read aloud with students in school classrooms, as assigned by a classroom teacher.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists K-3 students with the selection of books appropriate to their reading level.
- Reads aloud to assigned K-3 students.
- Delivers additional reading skill instruction using the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s processes and materials.
- Supports reading instruction as assigned by a classroom teacher.
- Documents student progress.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Experience and desire to work with elementary age children required.
- Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
- Reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions).
Work requires occasional lifting or pushing of up to 20 lbs. and the frequent lifting or pushing of up to 10 lbs.
