School Psychologist

The Children's School for Early Development has a Full Time position for a School Psychologist .

This position is in a Preschool program located in Westchester County.

The School Psychologist is an integral member of the classroom team supporting the Special Education Teacher in a comprehensive inclusion program for preschool students with a disability. The Psychologist‘s role is to monitor and enhance positive student outcomes and support classroom staff, suggesting strategies and interventions that are appropriate to the developmental level of each individual learner.

The Psychologist performs assessments, evaluations and behavior plans as appropriate. The Psychologist plans and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team functioning as a resource to address conflict resolution, relationship building and professional guidance for team members to listen, respect and value opinions expressed by others. The Psychologist assists the Social Worker in the intake process, parent visits, family contacts and communication. The Psychologist participates in parent education workshops. The Psychologist must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, staff and families.

Requirements:

• NYS Certification in School Psychology

• Knowledge of preschool students with a disability.

• Experience working with children on the autism spectrum and other developmental disabilities

• Strong background in behavior management

• Good organizational skills

• Good written communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other members of the support team
