Job Summary
This position researches and analyzes all aspects of sales analytics, planning, and compensation infrastructure and analysis. The incumbent designs and implements systems and processes to enable/enhance the execution of business development strategies. This role is responsible for supporting the Business Development Senior leadership team by maintaining, modifying, creating infrastructure and analyses processes that are used to support and assess the performance of UPS’s customer segments, strategies, and value propositions. This position works with leadership in all global business and supervises analysts, specialists and administrative staff.
Responsibilities
- Manages project lifecycles, including project scope, resources, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building, and deployment to see projects from beginning-to-end
- Forwards project documents to stakeholders to obtain sign-off, agreement on project cost, and needed resources
- Develops project plans (i.e., detailed plan, milestones, and work breakdown structures) and assigns tasks to resources to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to specifications
- Ensures affected functions or groups are identified and works with them to negotiate process changes, ownership of processes, and to manage project impact
- Designs and implements communication plans to ensure those affected by projects are informed and updated
- Follows up with assigned resources formally (e.g., status meetings, etc.) and informally to continuously manage the productivity of the team, project timelines, and deliverables
- Balances multiple projects and deployment schedules to meet stakeholder goals and expectations
- Works with Senior Management and peers to remove organizational barriers impacting departments' successes
- Reviews system process improvements with management to justify expenditures within the budget
- Documents identified system process improvements to delegate work to department team members
- Organizes personnel resources to redistribute work and resources
- Conducts regularly scheduled meetings to review project progress
- Solicits feedback from cross-functional partners to determine potential limitations and solutions for process improvements within the department
- Works with management to prioritize projects currently in progress and projects in the queue
- Makes decisions to closeout projects to create resource availability for new projects
- Identifies and recommends initiatives to advance Business Development objectives, mission, and strategies
- Manages cross functional development, implementation and execution of select initiatives to foster UPS growth
- Develops tactical plans and recommends assignment of responsibility to implement long-term strategy
- Identifies options for UPS to change/improve UPS’ strategies and processes to better meet the needs of organizational objectives
- Recommends key metrics that should be measured to generate insights on business plan performance, and designs analysis that will present the metrics in a clear and compelling manner
- Develops requirements and criteria documents to outline data inclusions, data file layouts, and distribution plans for Request for Change (RFC)
- Reviews RFC and Request for Data (RFD) forms to ensure requested changes and source data are received prior to final approvals
- Develops drafts of report layouts to receive feedback from stakeholders on final layouts and designs
- Manages testing by developing mock-up reports to validate data results and to ensure required project components are within scope
- Reviews vendor tasks to ensure product implementation is in accordance with the contracted product requirements
- Acts as a liaison between vendor and stakeholders to serve as a single point-of-contact for technology issues
- Tests functionality of vendor deliverables to ensure project components are designed according to specifications prior to field distribution
- Interacts with deployment management to ensure sales and customer concerns on released projects are resolved in a timely manner
- Monitors products to ensure accuracy and requested data changes are included prior to distribution
- Performs data warehouse queries on customers and sales resource data to provide accurate and current information
- Ensures updates and changes to documentation are available to communicate clear and consistent information on use of newly deployed infrastructure and analysis tools

- Understands UPS products, services, and internal systems: asks appropriate questions to gain clear understanding of system issues; documents and clearly communicate system issues to groups (e.g. Information Services, User Reps, TSG, system users, etc.).
- Applies analytics and logic to select and recommend target segments; identifies and completes processes to classify customers and prospects into targeted segments; profiles need, expectations, and business processes of firms in target segments; able to create succinct, customer centric value statements focused on the most salient product/service benefits supported by solid customer insights
- Uses hypothesis driven investigation to solve problems; identifies relationships and patterns among data from various sources; tests for causality and identifies root causes of problems or trends
- Demonstrates an understanding of basic financial terminology and concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conducts financial analyses
- Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for moderately complex and medium duration projects as well as basic programs
- Defines most of the initiatives project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; develops recommendations on best way to fulfill the project requirements given the current project and organizational dynamics
- Overcomes basic organizational resistance to cross-functional demands; demonstrates ability to successfully apply the project management discipline and remains current on project management practices and tools
- Develops and executes project management plans for moderately complex and medium duration projects as well as basic programs; defines most of the initiatives project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle
- Develops recommendations on best way to fulfill the project requirements given the current project and organizational dynamics; overcomes basic organizational resistance to cross-functional demands; demonstrates the ability to successfully apply the project management discipline and remains current on project management practices/ tools
- Demonstrates some advanced knowledge of statistical analyses, sampling, and tests; demonstrates the ability to identify outliers in data sets; troubleshoots existing statistical models; demonstrates basic knowledge of time series analysis
