RIA Operations Lead Job at Burton Enright Welch
I. MISSION
Founded in 1989, Burton Enright Welch (BEW) is an independent, fee-only Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm in Walnut Creek, CA with over $1 billion in assets under management.
We seek a curious, data-driven, technologically savvy professional with significant experience in financial advisory firm operations. The Operations Lead will oversee and optimize BEW’s technology stack and data. The Operations Lead will collaborate with Leadership, Advisors, Client Services, Trading, and Compliance with the goal of improving firm operations and client service.
This is a new role for BEW. The Operations Lead will work with Leadership to shape this role and build out the department, which we expect will be an integral part of our growing business. Long-term, there may be an opportunity to join BEW’s management team and share in firm ownership.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enhance and manage the client experience - onboarding, performance reporting, communications, and the client portal
- Oversee firm’s technology infrastructure – vendor relationships, identify new solutions, implement updates
- Collaborate with traders on portfolio operations, e.g. tax loss harvesting, legacy positions, and cash management. In the future, potentially assume trading responsibilities.
- Own all data-related initiatives, including financial planning screens, reconciliation, billing, and firm business metrics
- Maintain and monitor internal databases and electronic files, consistent with BEW policies and procedures.
- Audit data to ensure accuracy, organization, and effective integration with reporting, custodial (Schwab), and CRM (Salesforce) systems.
- Partner with CCO on compliance systems
- Build and hone CRM workflows
- Train new and existing employees
III. QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 6+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with an RIA
- Experience with Tamarac a plus
Skills and Knowledge:
- Well organized & excellent attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiples tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills (integrity, humility, respect, empathy)
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
- Past use of CRM system
