Overview:
The Administrative Residency is a program designed for individuals seeking a career in health management and working to assume leadership positions in the healthcare delivery system. The residency is structured to provide experiential learning within the hospital environment with departmental rotations for varying lengths of time over the duration of the program. Residents get the opportunity to actively participate in and lead projects in the hospital, physician practice operations, regional headquarters, and critical access hospital (CAH) environments with the heaviest emphasis on acute care management. These rotations outside of the hospital are crucial in building a holistic understanding of the Mercy system and the full continuum of care. During each rotation, residents will work alongside key leaders to enhance mastery of crucial competencies. Areas of focused learning include:
Residents will learn administrative and leadership skills, such as fostering team cohesion, motivation of staff, creation of a culture of continuous quality improvement, project coordination, effective communication, problem solving, and project management.

Qualifications:
- Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed an accredited graduate program in Health Administration (MHA, MBA, MHSA).
- Other: Candidates must submit the following items as part of the application process:- Resume- Two letters of recommendation (one academic, one professional,)- Personal statement of interest in pursuing the administrative residency at Mercy (500 words)Candidates will be expected to provide an official graduate school transcript. Ideal candidate will have personal values that closely align with Mercys values
