Job Description


Deliver physical therapy services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of physical therapy.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  • Performs advanced, direct physical therapy services to patients in accordance with generally accepted physical therapy standards, State of Maryland Physical Therapy Practice Act, code of ethics, and departmental procedures. Records patient evaluations, re-evaluations and care provided in the medical record in accordance with departmental documentation standards.
  • Engage in professional development and advancement activities. Provides mentorship and training to clinical staff.
  • Participates in and/or leads performance improvement activities, and other initiatives.
  • Identifies, resolves and/or escalates routine clinical and operational issues to department leadership for resolution, in order to assure high quality care, and efficient departmental operations.
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary, safe, patient-centered care and delivers excellent customer service.

Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Current licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Maryland is required.
  • Two (2) year of related experience is required.
  • Current ACLS or BCLS certification is required.

Patient Safety

Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives.

  • Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
  • Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
  • Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
