The Western Connecticut Mental Health Network (WCMHN) is seeking a qualified Medical Records Specialist 1 (PCN: 24811) to work with our Administration Department team. This is a full time, 40 hour per week, first shift role. The position has a work schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This role is located at 249 Winsted Rd in Torrington. This role may provide coverage at our Danbury and Waterbury locations.
In this role you'll discover the opportunity to:
- Assist in creating and maintaining medical records
- Maintain the Medical Record Room and ensure that charts are in good condition and proper order
- Serve as a resource and work collaboratively with clients, clinical staff, co-workers and outside agencies regarding release of information
- Conduct audits and analysis of medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide on-site support and training to clinical staff in the use of the DMHAS Electronic Health Record
- Cover multiple record room locations, and retrieve records from State archival site as needed
The Western Connecticut Mental Health Network (WCMHN) was formed in 1996 by the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), in order to coordinate clinical, fiscal and administrative oversight of Region 5 contracted and state-operated mental health services. Within this service system, there are three state-operated Local Mental Health Authorities, which are located in Waterbury, Danbury and Torrington. In partnership with the Western Connecticut Mental Health Network they provide and coordinate local clinical services. Over 200 staff including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation and mental health workers provide services for persons with a long-term mental illness.
