Library Service Associate - 20 hours per week Job at City of Lincoln & Lancaster County
Work schedules will vary and will include day, evening, and weekend hours at location as assigned. Positions are assigned to a primary branch or service unit - service units consist of a large branch library and a smaller branch library, and staff may be assigned to work at both locations in a work day.
Hours may occasionally be scheduled at other branch locations for training or staff coverage. This pool will be used to fill available positions at the following branches/units:
- Bennett Martin Public Library (136 S 14th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508)
- Eiseley Branch Library (1530 Superior Street, Lincoln, NE 68521) and Williams Branch Library (5000 Mike Scholl Street, Lincoln, NE 68524)
- Gere Branch Library (2400 S 56th Street, Lincoln, NE 68506) and South Branch Library (2675 South Street, Lincoln, NE 68502)
NOTE: The list created from this recruitment may be used for future openings with a similar number of hours at the listed branch/unit locations.
Responsible paraprofessional library work providing public service requiring some knowledge of library practices and procedures.
Performs full range of circulation tasks and references/readers' advisory services.
Involves heavy public contact.
Bilingual language skills are desired.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent and six months of experience in providing customer service to the public; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.
To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.
Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
