Job Description: Lead Teacher

Report to: Director Assistant

We are looking for a qualified Lead Teacher to work with ages 6 week to 12 years old.

A lead teacher must have love, passion, and patience for young children. Qualifications needed to teach

effectively includes but are not limited to knowledge of best practices in early childhood. The teacher will

create and promote a positive learning environment for all.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Treat each child with dignity and respect
• Work as a Lead Team Member in providing a positive and safe learning environment, keeping learning center organized, clean and up to date
• Always supervise children
• Assume an equal share of the housekeeping duties of the staff
• Obtain a minimum of 30 hours of annual training in professional development
• Use consistent discipline and guidance based on the understanding of the individual needs and development of the child
• Assist in planning and implementing lesson plans with developmentally appropriate learning activities and experiences for the children
• Dress professionally as stated in your employee policies
• Assist in maintaining up to date records, including daily attendance, anecdotal records, and assessments
• Communicate in a professional manner toward other team members, children, and parents
• Assist in parent/teacher conferences with Director
• Adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct

Qualifications:

Meet childcare provider qualifications as stated by Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Minimum Standards manual in sections 746.1101 thru 746.1327

• High school graduate or GED
• Must have a warm and caring personality, and be able to display affection to children
• Be a team member and must be a flexible problem solver that can maintain professionalism even in stressful situations
• Be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, bend, squat, and sit on the floor throughout the day to interact with the children in the classroom and the play areas
• Able to provide quality supervision and care for a group of infants, toddlers, preschoolers and/or school age children
• Any other duties deemed necessary for the continued quality of the program
