The Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for supervising crews providing services maintaining property grounds. The Crew Leader will make hands on decisions in performing work duties and delegating tasks to crew members so that services are completed to the customer’s satisfaction in a timely and safe manner. Must be able to travel.

The Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for providing these services within an assigned territory or for assigned customers or services. The service specialist works closely with customers, crew members, office personnel and management to resolve customer issues and to complete service to customer per scope of work.

Experience, Education, and Skills Required: High school diploma or equivalent required. Arizona Certified Landscape Professional preferred. At least two years previous experience in a service-related or technical field focused on quality and customer service and/or landscaping required. Excellent communication skills including read, write and verbal skills in English. Problem solving skills, good organizational skills, friendliness, and ability to build rapport required. Must display a positive demeanor, professionalism, and desire to please. Must enjoy working independently and in small groups. Ability to set goals, motivate team members and lead group to complete tasks. Valid Arizona driver’s license preferred.

Position Function and Duties:

•Use hand or power tools.

•Perform a variety of landscaping services on properties including, but not limited to trim, plant, water, seed, fertilize, dig, rake, mow, cultivate, trash removal, and weed removal.

•Must complete work using safe practices including using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as outlined in Northwest Companies’ Injury & Illness Prevention Program.

  • Inspect work for completeness, quality, and accuracy.

•Direct crew to meet daily production goal(s) with the highest of quality in an efficient, safe manner.

•Conduct daily strategy meeting with crew members at the beginning of work day setting goals and tasking assignments.

•Evaluate work conditions and take action(s) to ensure safety practices are being followed by all crew members.

•Continually build relationships with customers and, at all times, promote excellent customer service, quality, integrity and professionalism.

•Attend all required meetings.

•Complete required service records, customer reports, time records, or others, in accordance with company procedure.

•Maintain compliance with all company and state/federal safety standards, regulations, equipment, and procedures.

•Inform management of any customer issues or concerns that are not completely resolved to the satisfaction of the customer.

•Prepare all tools, equipment and vehicle prior to beginning each day.

•Report to supervisor immediately any damages or general repairs needed to tools, equipment and vehicle that cannot be completed by crew or self.

•Perform all other duties as assigned.

Typical Physical and Mental Demands:

Must be able to wear/utilize required safety equipment. Must be able to operate landscaping equipment. Requires constant (65%-100%) walking, bending, reaching, pulling, stooping, kneeling, pushing, stretching, and mental alertness. Requires frequent (34%-65%) climbing and lifting to (50) pounds. Requires occasional (0%-33%) sitting. Must possess the ability to endure high level of noise. Must possess physical stamina to work outdoors and perform labor continuously. Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range. Ability to communicate clearly preferred. Must possess good hand-eye coordination, gross motor coordination, and manual dexterity. Must be able to withstand heat during hot summers.

Typical Work Conditions:

Constant contact with customers. Work is performed outdoors, with exposure to all weather elements. Work involves continual use of industry equipment, materials, and products. Work involves daily travel.

Special Equipment:

Must possess ability to operate landscaping equipment including, but not limited to blowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, trimmers, shovels, applicators, backpacks, truck equipment, safety equipment, mowers, rakes, and others. Ability to operate a vehicle with trailer is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
