BASIC FUNCTION: The Laborer II is responsible for providing assistance with skilled service, maintenance, repair and/or construction of facilities for area assigned.

PRINCIPAL RESPONISBILITIES:

1. Repair leaks in the collection or distribution system.

2. Assist with preventive maintenance of valves, hydrants and manholes.

3. Make water taps.

4. Assist other departments and work on special projects.

5. Replace or install water meters.

6. Unclog sewers using hydrojets or routers.

7. Clean and properly maintain equipment and tools.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

TYPICAL DECISIONS: The incumbent is responsible for inspecting assigned equipment and identifying potential safety hazards.

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: A minimum of one year related experience in the construction trades, which includes the use of a wide variety of equipment. May require experience in the maintenance and repair of pertinent systems, equipment or tools for assigned areas.

NOTE: Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.
