Our Early Intervention department is looking for per diem Interpreters to join our expanding team!

Job Summary: Assists EI clinicians by providing interpretation via in-person services. Facilitates communication on behalf of families and/or clients for whom English is not their primary language or who are Deaf and or use American Sign Language as their primary method of communication.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Provides translating/interpreting services for Early Intervention clinicians and families during home visits, center-based visits, and group meetings when necessary.
  • Acts as a liaison between clinicians and clients/families.
  • Translates written materials such as parent letters, newsletters, narrative reports, IFSPs, and notes as needed.
  • Works collaboratively in a team approach to service provision.
  • Maintains compliance with all Northeast Arc EI policies and procedures, DPH regulations and requirements.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Performs other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • AA or BA from a recognized interpreter training program with 5 years' experience or possession of Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification of Interpretation (CI) and Certificate of Transliteration (CT), National Interpreter Certification (NIC) is required or State Certification Screening.
  • Previous experience working within early intervention services preferred
  • Knowledge of professional interpreting techniques and procedures. Proficiency/fluency in English and designated language. Knowledge of medical and EI specific terminology. Able to provide accurate interpretation. Possess strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel around North Shore and Cape Ann community and valid driver's license.
