This position offers flexibility in day to day work schedule as well as robust supervision to support clinicians in their work.
Position Summary
The clinician is expected to provide intensive therapeutic services in family homes and community settings to children ages 4-17 years and their families with multiple mental health service needs. Services are provided in accordance with an individual plan of service focused on the identified consumer and their family.
Essential Functions
- Assess and diagnose mental health and substance abuse disorders in adults, adolescents and children
- Complete functional assessments as required using CAFAS or PECFAS at the time of intake and quarterly thereafter and at the time of discharge
- Engage primary caregiver and other key participants
- Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants
- Develop an individual plan of service using a person centered planning process
- Provide family education on the diagnosis and treatment recommendations
- Provide individual and family therapy services as outlined in the IPOS
- Identify any consumer/family that may be at risk of deterioration and revise treatment accordingly
- Identify and manage crisis situations; provide crisis intervention therapy
- Make the necessary and appropriate referrals for identified needs and follow-up on status of the referral
- Communicate effectively, clearly, and frequently with other professionals, guardians, natural caregivers, and community to ensure clear understanding of consumer needs, progress, and success
- Prior to discharge, provide after care information to the consumer and family, community support referrals (if any) and how to access further treatment if needed
- Prepares and submits Quarterly Reports
- Serve as after hours on-call for Home Based services as necessary
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
- Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology or counseling from an accredited college or university
- Course work specific to child/adolescent development, mental health diagnosis and treatment, behavioral assessment and interventions, and family & individual therapy
Minimum Experience
- One (1) year of experience working in the field of mental health
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Active clinical license (LLPC, LPC, LLMSW, LMSW, LLP, or LP) in the state of Michigan
- Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge from working with the infant, child, and adolescent populations and their families
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and laws of their clinical profession (health education, interviewing, and counseling techniques)
- Requires basic skill level working with Microsoft Office and office equipment.
- Ability to work in an office and in community settings in Jackson and Hillsdale counties
- Ability to travel to community locations and other offices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with the judicial system related to mental health
- Experience working in an in-home setting or in community settings
- Experience in providing TF-CBT
- Current endorsement or actively pursuing endorsement in Infant Mental Health/IMH)
- CAADC Certification
