Front End Associate/Cashier Job at 1610 Hardware
Position Description:
The duties of the Front-End Associate position are to be performed by demonstrating and encouraging 1610 Hardware's core values to achieve our vision of being Hardware Different, the best place to work and the best place to shop.
The Front-end Associate participates in the operation of the entire store. Responsible for supporting and participating in complete day-to-day operation of the store, acts quickly, makes sound decisions, self starting sees what needs to be done and acts upon, communicates openly and honestly with all.
Working with the store management team to drive and achieve sales goals and customer satisfaction. Engage in product knowledge and any other training assigned.
An effective Front-End Associate handles and counts money accurately.
A Front-end Associate must be willing to work alongside other associates to get the job done. Performing duties with an enthusiastic positive and supportive attitude is essential, act professional and have a professional appearance. A Front-end Associate is responsible for greeting customers, answering phones and a high level of store cleanliness, merchandising presentation and every customer/every time, has an exceptional experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
Maintain floor and point of sale area. A willingness to do what needs to be done to maintain and improve our store. Receiving and stocking of merchandise accurately. Maintain/Replenish needed stock, forms, and materials for cash area.
Be knowledgeable at operating point of sale (POS). Proficient at performing sales, returns, exchanges, special orders, and following all policies and procedures.
Be alert for safety issues and be proactive in correcting.
Knowledge of both inventory and price of items. Change price tags and bin tags as needed. Watch for pricing discrepancies. Our goal is to maintain an accuracy level of less the 25 outs per 1000 square feet and identify/correct problem areas following procedures
Hustles to accomplish duties assigned. Seeks out additional duties and assignments, keeps themselves busy. Works efficiently and accurately.
Have a positive, supportive, can-do attitude. Remember your attitude is contagious, is yours worth catching? Takes ownership and works to resolve problems in a positive manner.
Stay current on all company policies, standards and procedures are maintained and followed consistently.
Screen credit cards, checks before acceptance
Opening/Closing of cash drawers. Ability to balance, count and handle money accurately.
Handle and direct incoming phone calls, monitor on hold calls to make sure they are being assisted.

Keep check out area neat, clean and organized
Be at your workstation ready to go when scheduled. Stay at your workstation until the scheduled time to leave. Willing to stay longer when the store is busy or needs additional coverage.
With direction from the Store Management team help execute store merchandise plans to include monthly endcaps, sales ads, seasonal change outs and all merchandising on floor are completed per store calendar while maintaining a high level of presentation and signage.
Assist in overall store calendar.
Watch for shoplifters and notify appropriate manager.
Additional Information: Additional Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some College preferred.
Must have previous experience and retail knowledge.
Technically skilled in basic computer knowledge and software (Word, Excel, Email, Internet search)
Must have good written and oral communication skills.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of business
$14.00 hr - $15.00 hr
