Environmental Intern (Reclamation/Vegetation)
We are looking to hire one or two summer environmental interns to join our team of scientists working on various biological field projects related to reclamation efforts in the Rocky Mountain Region. This position will be an opportunity for you to learn new skills, travel, and gain valuable natural resource experiences. Our interns work with professional biologists to learn the skills necessary to work in environmental consulting.

• Expected Interview Dates: Early April
• Expected Hiring Dates: May 1st.
• Hourly Rate: $18-$20/hr., depending on experience.

• Conduct reclamation and revegetation monitoring surveys throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah.
• Learn to gather, analyze, and conduct basic scientific data interpretation.
• Accurately complete field data entry forms using electronic data collection devices such as tablets and Global Positioning System (GPS) units.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) necessary to conduct compliance monitoring tasks safely.
• Be willing and able to follow all health and safety procedures and make safe field-based judgments. Health and safety training will be a vital part of your training, and you will not work in the field until completing all training.
• Comfortable working in remote and sometimes isolated conditions during the day.
• Be willing to learn new skills, be mentored by professionals, and work as a team.

• It is educational; you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, learn new skills through training, and gain valuable experience.

• College-level coursework or field experience related to biological, environmental, or earth sciences.
• An aptitude to identify typical Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado weeds, grasses, forbs, and shrubs.
• Some experience with vegetation monitoring techniques such as quadrat sampling and line-point intercept methodologies. We will provide training.
• Proficiency in navigating and interpreting topographic maps and using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment.
• Ability to work independently and self-initiate in demanding work conditions.
• Strong communication skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
• Experience with scientific data and general report preparation.
• Willingness for week-long overnight travel, including weekends, with all expenses paid and a daily per diem.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Adherence to strict drug-free policies and random testing.
